People of Note Workshop: Eliza Fyfe

People of Note invites you to join us for a day workshop (our first of a new era) with exciting young choir leader Eliza Fyfe. We’re in the lovely airy venue of St Paul’s Southville, with plenty of space. This workshop is open to all, as with the rest of our Autumn programme.
Eliza (elizafyfe.com) is a singing teacher and choir director covering a wide range of popular music. She writes her own arrangements tailored to the group she’s working with. After leaving uni with a degree in Commercial Music, she was determined to start her own choir which she did in 2016, Bristol Choir Brigade. She has worked with the BBC and Silverback Films running singing workshops. Here’s a video of her in action: https://youtu.be/C5MuAM1UxMs
She also runs a virtual choir, ChoirCast, born out of lockdown which has gone global. Have a look at www.choircast.com
Eliza is planning a wonderfully accessible programme for the day with familiar songs from Queen, Leonard Cohen and Blur, and easy 3 part harmonies.
10am – Welcome & warm up + warm up song
10.30am – Song 1: Tender (Blur)
11.30am – Song 2: Hallelujah (Leonard Cohen)
12.30pm – BREAK
1pm – Song 3: I Want To Break Free Radio GaGa Mashup (Queen)
2.30pm – Run through all 3 songs with recording
There will be tea and coffee through the day and top ups for your water bottles. Please bring your own lunch, or you can nip across Gaol Ferry Bridge to the eateries and bakeries in Wapping Wharf.
The map below shows where St Paul’s is, in a nice central location 15 mins from the centre. Click on the ‘Directions’ in the map for how to get there by walking, bus, cycling or car. There’s no parking at St Paul’s and it’s in the Bedminster East residents’ parking scheme (RPS) which is Mon-Fri, BUT the other side of Dean Lane is Southville RPS which is Mon-Sat so you’ll need to pay to park.
